Yol (イオール) is a character that appeared in Magical Girl Raising Project: breakdown.

The young heiress to a wealthy family, she travelers to the late Sataborn's private island with her attendants, Maiya and Rareko, to discuss inheritance.

It is later revealed that she is not an actual inheritance candidate but was posthumously added to Sataborn's will by Navi Ru to draw out Maiya and Rareko.

Appearance

Yol

Yol is a short girl with long, wavy mint green hair, parts of it being tied up with thick hair bands. The hair bands are dark purple wih a pink stripe, and she has dark pink streaks throughout her hair. She wears a dark purple pointy hat with lace underneath and a gold trimming, her family crest embroidered into the hat with gold thread. Connected to the tip of her hat is a small gold chain and a white puff ball. Yol has a very fair complexion, and currently her eye color is unknown.

Yol wears a long purple cape with a hot pink underside. She has multiple hidden pockets for trading cards, and her cape has gold trimming and buttons. Wrapped around her shoulders is a small off-white collar scarf with white and black trimming. The ends are pinned together with a copper pin, and two puffballs are on either side. Underneath, Yol wears a long sleeved white shirt and a very dark purple jumper skirt. Underneath her skirt is a white petticoat.

She wears white calf-length socks and dark purple loafers. Yol’s appearance is compared to that of a western-style doll

Personality

Despite her age, she speaks in a polite and elegant manner with everybody, though she is also shown to throw the occasional childish tantrum. She exhibits this behavior when she challenges Touta to a card game, growing fussy upon learning he did not bring his deck and that her own deck was recently banned from the meta.

She shows a great deal of curiosity and interest about many things related to the world outside of the Magical Kingdom, like the Magical Battlers card game.

She doesn't seem to be able to read the mood of others, as she thought that Miss Marguerite and Maiya were former acquaintances instead of them being on bad terms.

Magic

As Yol is a Mage, she does not possess the same magic a Magical Girl would.

Throughout Breakdown, she is seen using a different variety of spells and inscriptions.

Relationships

Rareko

Rareko is one of Yol's Magical Girl partners.

Maiya

Maiya is one of the Magical Girls who came to the Island with Yol as her partner.

Maiya is shown throughout Breakdown to be incredibly protective of Yol to the point of not allowing certain people to talk to her. Maiya highly distrusts Navi Ru in particular. It is later revealed that this is partially due to the prospect of Navi Ru's potential arranged marrial to Yol that was later discarded. Yol does not seem to hold any contempt for Maiya even in spite of her overprotectiveness, instead trusting and loving her since she grew up with Maiya around.

Yol is heartbroken to find out about Maiya's murder and cries for her. As seen at the end of Breakdown, she is still recovering from the emotional affects of Maiya's death, though mentions that her family is looking for new Magical Girls to accompany her, since Rareko also died on the Island.

Navi Ru

Yol is shown to have great trust in Navi Ru, since he has been an acquaintance of her family for a long time. Yol refers to Navi Ru as "Uncle." She is clueless to Navi Ru's ulterior motives with her and her family.

It is later revealed to Touta that Navi Ru was considered to become a fiancé to Yol in an arranged marriage, even in spite of their large age gap. The idea was eventually disgarded, since Yol's great-grandmother and Maiya were very against Yol marrying him. While Yol finds Navi Ru very considerate of her feelings towards their prospective marriage, Touta is quite uneasy of the situation.

Touta Magaoka

Yol and Touta first met on Sataborn's Island. Since the two are similar in age, they noticed each other quickly.

Yol recognized Touta as a duelist of Magical Battlers and attempt to challenge him to a card game. When he told her that her deck had been banned recently, he suggested her to build a new one and the two started to work on it together.

Throughout the events of Breakdown, Yol and Touta stay by each other's side, with Touta often being the one to comfort and attempt to protect Yol from the events happening all around them.

At the end of Breakdown, Yol asks Touta if he wants to become a Magical Girl, to which Touta responds that he does. Given that they both do not have the magical potential to become Magical Girls naturally, Yol then tells Touta about the existence of Artificial Magical Girls, and that the two of them can become Magical Girls that way.

Trivia

• Yol is a fan of the Magical Battlers series, a popular card game that has been beloved by children even when Nozomi Himeno was a child, as stated in Young Princess Nozomi.
