Nemurin (ねむりん), also known by her real name Nemu Sanjou (三条合歓), is one of the main protagonists of Magical Girl Raising Project.

She is a 24-year old NEET who spends her time listening to other Magical Girls in the chatroom and roaming peoples' dreams using her magic.

Although her body dies in Unmarked (Arc 1), later arcs reveal that her soul lives on in the Dream World.

Human

As a human, Nemu has long, dark-brown hair that she wears in low pigtails, with a smaller pigtail atop her head. Her forehead is exposed. She is typically seen with pajamas on.

Magical Girl

As a Magical Girl, Nemurin has long blonde hair with dark-pink tips tied into pigtails. She has cloud-like creatures coming out of her hair. She also has light-purple eyes.

She wears an oversized pajama shirt that is yellow and covered with bunny faces and clouds with faces. She has a candy wrapper at the collar of her shirt. She also wears long white socks, with one being tugged down more than the other.

Personality

Nemurin is one of the few veteran Magical Girls of the group. She's quite a happy-go-lucky girl and is more than happy to help out anyone in need. She's also a bit of a ditz, can be quite lazy, and is a bit of a sleepyhead. She also had a very severe case of asthma as a child. Naturally, this makes it hard for her to actually help out in the real world.

Magic

Can enter others' dreams.

Nemurin's magic allows her to act freely in a realm known only as of the Dream World. Within this world, everyone's dreams are connected to each other, and Nemurin is able to enter the dreams of people whom she had met in the real world.

It is possible for Nemurin to reflect whatever happens to a person in the Dream World to reality. For example, wounds inflicted on a person in the Dream World would carry over into the Real World.

Nemurin can summon people to the Dream World from any point in time, as well as from any location she desires. This isn't just making people fall asleep, but pulling peoples' physical bodies across time and space into the Dream World.

Inside the Dream World, Nemurin has absolute power and is the strongest being. She is able to do almost anything within the Dream World. This also means that she can create anything within this realm, including making a person and changing their personality. However, her absolute power in the Dream World does not work in reality.

Special Item(s)

• Tulip-patterned Pillow: Nemurin's pillow. Seems to make for good night's sleep.
• Nemurin's Antennae: Nemurin's antennae are used to detect dreams, as well as facilitate Nemurin's power. They are located in her hair.

Calamity Mary

Nemurin thinks that Calamity Mary is a cruel Magical Girl. However, she likes her appearance. She later recreates her as Beautiful Calamity Mary in Magical Girl Raising Project in Dreamland.

Snow White

She firstly meets Nemurin in the chat and they go together to the Dream World, where Snow White feels great admiration for her abilities. They quickly become friends. Snow White feels bad for Nemurin having to go and is later shocked when she found out about her tragic fate. The Snow White from JOKERS is confused but happy at the same time of seeing her again, and Nemurin is happy of it as well. Nemurin is Snow White's mentor in the manga.

Nemurin's Mother

She was the mother of Nemurin, when she saw her beloved daughter dead, after she came to check up on her, she cried out of devastation of her beloved daughter death.

Masked Wonder

Nemurin was Masked Wonder's mentor and is also her cousin, yet they were both unaware of that fact. She told Masked Wonder they could only meet in the Dream World, but the things Masked Wonder learned would remain in the Real World.

Swim Swim

During Nemurin's Adventure, Nemurin enters one of Swim Swim's dreams. Nemurin encourages Swim Swim to become a princess herself instead of being a mere liege.

Ruler

They were both Calamity Mary's students and it’s implied that they studied together. Ruler makes fun of the fact that Nemurin ranked the lowest in the first week of the Magical Girl Raising Project.

Top Speed

They were both Calamity Mary's students and it’s implied that they studied together. Top Speed mentions it was a tragedy that Nemurin died.

Hardgore Alice

Hardgore Alice was introduced after the death of Nemurin, so as a result, they never interacted in the real world. Despite this, the two of them managed to interact in the Dream World in Alice's dream.

Fav

He made Nemurin into a magical girl, later the results of the magical girl with the least Magical Candy that Nemurin was the first person to die.

Beautiful Calamity Mary

Nemurin created Beautiful Calamity Mary in order to help Masked Wonder practice being a Magical Girl. Beautiful Calamity Mary and Nemurin have a positive relationship and Beautiful Calamity Mary tends to cook food that Nemurin enjoys very much.

• The name Nemurin means "sleep" (ねむ) (nemu) and "Phosphorus" (りん) (rin) in Hiragana.

Real Name

• The name Nemu means "welcome, silk tree, enjoying pleasure together" (合歓).
• Nemu's surname Sanjou means "three" (三) (san) and "article" (条) (jou).

• The surname Sanjou is homophone with the phrase "tragic event", making it fitting with Nemurin as the first death in the entire series.
• In the official fanbook interview with Asari Endo and Maruino, it is revealed that Nemurin is Asari Endo's favorite Magical Girl, whom he describes as "comfy".
• As a human, Nemu Sanjou has a height of 157 cm, while her Magical Girl form as Nemurin has a height of 151 cm.
• Despite being deceased, she continues to live in the Dream World eternally, unable to leave.
• In multiple interviews, Maruino has stated that she was aware that Nemurin would be the first to die, and designed her to be very cute as a result.
